Aussie R&B/pop legend Chet Faker has his own label now, Detail Co., and it's no surprise to hear his first release comes from someone like Cleopold, an artist whose strengths lie in moulding scarred memories into something wholly beautiful. 'Down In Flames', the Melbourne resident's debut single proper, is a swansong to a relationship drawing to its conclusion - but that's not to say it has a bleak feel, it's anything but bitter, too. Trickling 808s melt into grand synth strings, supplementing Cleopold's glossy, yet undeniably wounded, tones; it's a genuine heartbreak jam, and one that will put both Chet's new project and his first signing on the map. - DC
